Dear Families,
Hooray for snow!  There’s nothing like a big snow to shake things up, make instant fun at recess, and create a special kind of energy. It’s a great time to build independence too.  Help your child practice putting on boots, jackets, gloves, etc.  If they say “zip me!” say “you can do it!”  Very empowering!
There is outdoor recess every day, so send warm clothes.

This Week…

We’ll continue to discover everyday things that come from trees and plants.  At the center of our inquiry is our trip to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.  We’ll do some planting, visit a special greenhouse, and cook!  We have room for four parents to go along- if you are interested, let me know.

The Project

Watch for the “specs” for our first home project.  Each child will choose an item,  learn how it’s made,  and share with the class, OR demonstrate how something is made or how something works.  Talk about empowering!  The whole class will share their projects at our Marketplace in January.

Thanks to

Paul Wegner, who came to school on Friday to correct the spelling tests and get them in the BEE books.
ZeZe Justo, who will join the class on Thursday AM and teach us a thing or two about making snowflakes.

Coming Up…

December 19 is our Barton Factory!  We will be making hula hoops on an assembly line.  We’ll need a lot of help in the morning- let me know if you are up for some factory work!
December 21 is the last school day of 2012!

We need –

SNACKS!  Crackers, cheese sticks, oranges, pretzels, etc.

Thanks!  Happy Hanukkah!  Kristin
