Dear Families,

On Saturday I had the pleasure of seeing some Barton kids (and my grandson Isaac, who goes to Anwatin) run up to the stage to get their history day medals and their ticket to move on to the state History Day competition.  One mom, whose daughter didn’t move on to state, was all smiles, as she said, “Kristin!  I blame you for this!” as her proud daughter hauled her giant display board down the crowded hallway.  It was wonderful to see so many former students put their hearts into learning about, and then teaching about, turning points in history.  I’m convinced that those beginning projects in first and second grade build skills and confidence that take kids anywhere they want to go.

Next Week

Next week is our play, The Quiltmaker’s Gift, and Art Show.  Our students are so excited and nervous!  We have had some excellent read-throughs, and will spend time blocking out the scenes for Thurday’s performance in the commons.  If your child needs special props or a costume, I’ll put a note in the BEE book.  I hope everyone worked on their lines over the weekend- but don’t worry- I’m a big believer in cue cards!

Our Party

Thursday morning will bring the play and art show.  Thursday afternoon will feature our “Arty Party,”  We’ll have lots of dancing, music and art opportunities to help us celebrate the end of “World of Beauty” and the beginning or Spring Break!  Whoop!  Whoop!

We would love some treats to share for our art show/reception.  Some fruit ready to eat, cheese, and muffins would be great.  Can anyone (or a few people) be the caterer?

PALA

Pala wraps up at the end of the week.  Record your child’s exercise on the sheet provided.  Remember, the 30 minutes of play at recess counts.  There will be a certificate for students who return a completed PALA form on Thursday.

Sell Plants!

It’s been fun to see the students’ excitement as our room 102 sales go up and up.  We are the top selling primary class!  Thanks for your support and keep it up!  We have a way to go to meet our $2000 goal.

Thanks for all you do- Happy Spring!  Kristin and Adam
