Dear Families,

I know I keep saying it, but we are BUSY!  This week includes another visit from Uli, our goodbye visit with Randy, Portfolio Sharing and Lake Day!  Our routines and rituals will keep us calm and peaceful through all of the excitement, and the festivity will keep our minds off the sad/happy fact that we are about to say goodbye for a long time.

It’s such a gift to be part of this lovely and loving classroom family!

The Farm

Thanks to all who joined our trip to Wazupi Farm and especially to Uli Koester, who arranged the whole thing!  It was a wonderful working farm (you can get a CSA share from there with a South Side pick up) with amazing teachers on staff.  We got to feed and pet chickens, gather eggs, de-bug apple trees, plant crops, and work in the children’s garden.  They have camps in the summer- check it out!

Portfolio Sharing

We are squeezing our Portfolio Sharing in between the all-school morning meeting and Lake Day this Friday.  Our intention is to make it easier for parents to attend.  Every child needs someone there- to look over the impressive collection of work!  Students will be prepared to highlight aspects of the portfolio that cause special pride, and to run the session.  At the end, parents will take the portfolios home to keep!

If you would like to supply portfolio sharing treats, please let Jerri Clark Wagner, our parent rep, know.

Lake Day

Lake Day happens this Friday.  We’ll leave for the Lake at 9:30.  Parents are not expected to come, but are welcome, and very much needed as volunteers.

Please put sunscreen on your child in the morning, make sure he or she has a hat and water bottle, and is wearing the CAMP SHIRT!  It makes it so much easier to spot in a crowd.   Pack a lunch from home- regular lunch boxes are fine. If you can supply popsicles for us at the end of the day back at Barton, it would be great.  Please don’t send money or plan to buy your child food while at Lake Harriet!  The treat stand is a privilege reserved for the uppers.

Homework This Week

We are done assigning homework, but hope that you will all study for the 100 heart word spelling bee that will happen on Thursday.  These are attached, and are also in your BEE books.  Thanks!  Kristin
