Something About Mary
durangoatthewall-2-mary.jpg

I began teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools in 1991.  I was at Four Winds Native American School for seven years before Barton.  I taught for two years in a private school before working in the district.  Almost all of my years of teaching have been with glorious fifth and sixth graders who are at the portal of adolescence.  It is an age that I love!

I seem to add another degree every ten years or so.  I began with an elementary degree, followed by a French degree, both earned at the University of Minnesota.   I earned a masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of St.Thomas.  During 2009-11, I completed a reading specialist license at

the University of Minnesota.

I have a husband and a son and daughter, both adopted from Korea.  Both children completed their degrees at the University of Minnesota and are on their own.  My daughter is a geotechnical engineer, and my son lives in Washington D.C. and works for an international nonprofit organization that works to provide clean water to Kenya and India.  My husband and I live with our dog Hunter, and cats, Sophie and Hank.  I also have one horse, a Clydesdale/Thoroughbred named Durango. I spend much of my free time caring for, training and riding my horse. I love to trail ride and go camping with my horse and friends. I also love to garden and travel.
