An Invitation to Participate on the Leadership Council
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 8:25 PM

The Barton Leadership Council is a collaborative group of teachers and parents who meet to help develop the policies and make the budget decisions which support our school’s mission. It’s a unique platform where both parents and teachers are able to share their perspectives and have a very real impact upon our school’s future.

The Council meets once or twice a month during the school year. Meetings are held on Thursday evenings, starting at either 4:30 or 6:00 PM, and concluding (without fail!) 2 hours later. Pizza and childcare are provided during the meetings.

All that is required to be considered for the council is to write a brief statement about yourself, including your hopes for Barton. This ‘candidate statement’ needs to be turned into the office, or emailed to steven.delapp@mpls.k12.mn.us, by Friday, May 14. All candidate statements will then be published in the Bugle on May 19, 2010, and the adult members of the Barton community will be asked to endorse those candidates they wish to have represent them. The new council members will be invited to attend our last meeting on Thursday, May 27 (4:30-6:30 PM).

If you are interested I urge you to either write a statement and submit it for next year, or talk to a member of our current council and/or attend a future council meeting to see if it is right for you (the dates and times of meetings are published in the Bugle). It’s a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and our door is always open. Thank you.
