Barton Community Education offers affordable enrichment opportunities. Classes are offered after school (and more) and a great way to make friends from other classes, have fun, and feel supported. Most of our teachers are Barton parents or someone with a special talent in their field. Our teachers are WONDERFUL! Class offerings change with the season... and offered both inside and outside! A brochure of class offerings is sent home with all students, simply return your registration via your child's back pack to their classorom teacher.

During the winter months tutoring after school is available. Our "Pay it Forward" club is a group of heartfelt 3-6 graders who do good things for the school and community... they meet every Tuesday after school... join us!

Later in the day, we offer the "Art for All Ages" program. You can learn to draw, dance, play the guitar or join a theater group... and much more. These are classes for youth, adults and families. If you have questions about the Barton Community Education Program please contact the coordinator Cindy Smedberg at 668-3585 or cindy.smedberg@mpls.k12.mn.us.

Fall 2012 Community Education Classes
The Community Education after school program begins Sept. 24. Classes run from 2:00 - 3:00 (unless noted) and you must provide your own transportaion home. Scholarships are available by calling the Community Education office. There is many other ways to get involved in Community Education beyond after school... special events on non school days, classes later in the day, A family Dance on Friday, October 5th (7:00 p.m. in the Barton gym) or try a family class and meet other Barton families as you get artsy together! We call this program "Art for All Ages".

Barton Community Education classes will have the opportunity to perform at the Saturday, November 10 "Handmade Arts from the Heart". It is a great Barton event and our youth sharing dance, music, theater give it that groovy Barton vibe.
