Dear Families,
Now THAT is what I call a snowstorm! Hope you found a way to enjoy it. If it is above 0, we go outside for recess! BRR!

Last week…
Holly had a wonderful week sharing her passion for all kinds of bread. We learned the difference between handmade and factory bread, the reason darker bread is better for us, and how yeast works. On Thursday Holly brought bread from all over the world. What a yummy week! Kids tried goat cheese, olive oil and yes, duck pate on their bread! I can’t wait to hear if any kids are requesting pate on their toast in the mornings!
This is Holly’s last week. After winter break in Paris with her family, Holly plans to spend some time working in New York City. Sounds like a great plan! It was fun to have Holly with us and we sure will miss having her.

The Greengrocery
Thanks to all of the parents who joined us for the field trip to the arboretum. We ate garlic toast and planted garlic for home. We toured the greenhouse and found plants that make food. Have you eaten a plant today? I bet you have!

This Week
We’ll be working with ceramics this week. We’ll have a new version of Barton Snowman Works open for business on Wednesday morning. Extra Volunteers would be very welcome! We’ll experience an assembly line process, along with the fun of working at a factory and earning our paychecks. On Friday, we’ll be making handmade tiles with an artist from Dawn’s class. We could use extra help on that day too.

Our First Project
We’ll send home the “specs” for our first project of the year this week. Watch For It! The project will be due after winter break.

Water Watchers
The average 5-7 minute shower uses 25-50 gallons of water. Bring your collected coins to school to help us support giveuswings.org.

Pajama day on Friday, December 17!

Thanks, Kristin and Holly.
