Felicity’s Native Garden

Plans are in the works for a memorial garden to celebrate Felicity’s life and her deep dedication to and enjoyment in the natural world.  The space immediately west of door #5 will be transformed into a small plot of prairie with native plants, a bench and little lending library and paths to walk through it and explore the plants, habitats and creatures that stop by.  There are several ideas for art pieces as well to express our memories of all that Felicity had to share.

The Garden Team has applied for a grant from the national native gardening organization, Wild Ones, whose local chapter representatives will be a resource to us during the planning and planting phases of the project.  We are currently working with teachers to plan ways for third and fourth graders to learn about the wonder of native plants and help design the garden layout including plant selections.  There will also be other opportunities for the school community, along with Felicity’s family, to be involved in creating other features in the garden.

Look for more information later this year and throughout the winter!
