Dear Classroom 120 Families,

The performance last Friday was great! It was wonderful that so many made it to see in person; for those of you who missed it, it’s posted on YouTube as “Wavin’ Flag by Clara Barton Open School, January 9, 2015”. We’re on the left, the two rows in front of the kids with flags (one student is blurred, we don’t have a media release). Hope you can find your child in the group; it was a powerful performance! The kids did an amazing job! Enjoy Read more...

The students have been tracking and recording the very cold temperatures each day at 9:30 a.m. as part of our Air and Weather Science Unit. Most days I have taken them for a very brief time outdoors to feel the weather. Everyone is working to use 5 senses as we integrate the writing curriculum with poetry. Upcoming we will begin to look more closely at the clouds and learn about the different varieties. Hopefully we’ll be recording some warmer temperatures as we continue to observe and record them for at least 2 more weeks.

Our last day of Music is this Monday the 12th; we start Art on Tuesday the 13th.

Friday, January 16th is a Release Day for students. I will be participating in the first of three Envoy trainings that Barton teachers are taking together on to provide continued consistency to the students.

Monday, January 19th is also a Release Day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Thursday, January 29th is our field trip to the Children’s Theater to see Snowflake!

The year is off to a great start for Classroom 120! Happy New Year!                                                                                  Sincerely,

                                                                                    Jane
