My Child is Struggling: How to Prioritize and Where to Focus

When a child is struggling it is easy to become overwhelmed with a variety of unique and diverse needs and varying advice from multiple sources. This session will help give parents and teachers a guiding framework as they search out and evaluate the most important strategies and goals for their unique learner and keep the big goals front and center – fostering happy, healthy learners.

Topics covered include:

  1. Developing, choosing and prioritizing goals
  2. Making the most of being unique
  3. The role of automaticity, accuracy, memory and mistakes in learning
  4. Exploring the role of parent vs. teacher
  5. The role of praise
  6. Reinforcing hard work and the use of effective strategies
  7. Teaching independence

This session is designed for parents and teachers of students of any age struggling with any subjects.
