Hello Everyone,
Conferences started this week. It is great to have the chance to sit down with families and talk about each student's goals individually. Thank you for these important conversations.

It was our second week of spelling, and students are starting to get the routine down. On Monday, students sort the words by spelling pattern and bring a copy of the words home. On Tuesday, students focus on the meanings of the words by figuring out which words make sense to fill i the blanks of sentences in a paragraph. On Wednesday, students correct misspelled words by using proof reading marks. On Thursday, words are practiced through puzzles or codes. Friday is the spelling test.

We are well into our graphing unit. Third graders are making and interpreting bar graphs and double bar graphs. Fourth graders are making and interpreting line plot graphs as well as timelines and venn diagrams. We are also continuing to add money and make change.

We are on chapter twelve of Charlotte's Web, which is about half way through the book. I finished reading The Tale of Despereaux today and I am sad to see it end.

Just a heads up that we will be swimming the week of October 11th through the 14th. If you do not think your student could pass the deep water test, which consists of alternating floating and treading, then they should sign up for the water safety class. The sign up sheet will be sent home with the swimming permission slip.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
