Room 8 Update--9/12/14
Friday, September 12, 2014 8:40 AM

Greetings Parents and Friends of Room 8!

It's hard to believe we are ending our third week of school already! It has gone quickly!!

We have been busy decorating our new space! The kids have created their "Fabulous Faces", made "Rainbow Names", wrote their goals on their "Personal Shields", filled our windows with "Shower Curtain Faces", written letters to themselves (to be opened the last week of school) and developed "Recipes for a Awesome School Year" ...that one is on our "Wall of Cheese"! Phew!

We have started our first class novel entitled Tuck Everlasting. We will spend time in class reading, writing and discussing. (Your child may bring it home if they need to finish up an assignment.)

We also started our Minnesota History projects this week! The kids are in groups of six, creating a presentation about an immigrant group that has moved to Minnesota. This is an "in school" project! I'm excited to see what they come up with! This theme also goes with our Personal Timelines. The timeline direction sheet came home last week. These timelines are due Sept. 23. If you have questions, please let me know. I have a few samples in the classroom. Also let me know if your child need any supplies to create their timeline.

I am waiting for our mealworms to arrive from the science center...when they do, we will start the science kit "Environments". So looking forward to that one...

If you haven't done so already PLEASE send in $10 for planners and National Geographic. Swimming permission slips went home on Monday. We don't swim until November 4-6, but then we don't have to worry about it for the rest of the year! :)

That's all for now! :)

Thanks for sharing your kids with me! They are a sweet group!

Becky
