SWIMMING

We are swimming this week: Monday through Thursday. Please send your child with a suit and towel, a comb or brush, if needed in a bag.

DOT DAY -> BOX TOPS -> PLACE VALUE

We celebrated DOT WEEK by reading the Peter Reynolds' book The Dot. We connected the theme of this story to our earlier discussions of courage and creativity. The book also got us thinking about “making our mark” - doing something, anything that helps others. Room 209 has a service project that benefits all of Barton School. We are the BOX TOP kids. We count the Box Tops, which are worth 10¢ each and send them in. This is a great lesson in place value and watching numbers grow. Last year we counted Box Tops and earned $1,763.60 for Barton! It is so exciting to watch the 10s  become 100s (when someone switches off the lights and makes an announcement) then a bag of 1000, etc. So save your BOX TOPS and send them in!

GOAL SETTING CONFERENCES

Conferences start this week. Your student’s homework this week was to prepare for the conference. Oh yes, and you have a little homework, as well. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to ask. Please bring the conference planning forms with you, or they can be returned to school in the homework folder. An updated schedule is attached. I will send an email reminder. Let me know if you need to reschedule.
