10/10/16 Newsletter & Homework

Dawn and Kristin’s Newsletter

Clara Barton Open School   October 10, 2016

Hi Families,

We have a big week ahead!  We will be using what we know about fairytales to tell our own important stories.  Every child is planning and writing a fairytale.  Some will retell favorite stories and some will create original stories.  You will hear all of the stories at our Author’s Tea on October 28, from 7:45-8:45.

Elephant and Piggy

Our field trip is coming up!  If you volunteered to be a chaperone, we will send an email to let you know if you are needed, since we have a limited number of tickets.

Handwriting Starts!

Our handwriting books are here, and we will start handwriting Monday!  Dawn will take the second graders and Kristin will work with first graders.  We will have handwriting for the first 15 minutes after specialist every day.

We thank you for supporting Handwriting at Barton each year.  Since we’ve started using Handwriting Without Tears, the third and fourth grade teachers have noticed a big difference.  Our kids feel more confident, and are able to write their letters automatically, in the most efficient way.  Watch for a form asking for your contribution for HWT.

Bring Cards!

We want each child to have a deck of cards to practice math facts and play math games.  If you haven’t sent one yet, please do!

Dawn and Kristin’s Homework

10-10-16   You know what to do! Choose some homework to try.  Be ready for a spelling test and homework sharing on Friday.
