Dear Families,

We have two days this week to get ready for our Stone Soup Lunch!  Monday we will clean and cook the vegetables.  Tuesday we will serve the soup.  Make sure to send a lunch for your child as usual.  The kids will be eating before their serving shift starts.

Last Week

Check out the blog- I posted lots of sweet pictures of the kids creating their clothespin dolls last week.  We had many nice conversations about pilgrims and immigrants.  Almost every student in the class had a family immigration story to share. The story Molly’s Pilgrim also helped us think about the connection between Sukkot and Thanksgiving, and our own 102 Harvest tradition, Stone Soup Lunch.

Marie’s Last Day

Friday we had a little party to say thank you and goodbye to Marie.  We won’t miss her very long.  We are happy to say that Marie will be right next door subbing for Dawn who is going to be at home for a few weeks recovering from back surgery.  It will be fun to collaborate with Marie in a new way, and to know that Dawn’s class is in such good hands.

Next Week

When we return from Thanksgiving break we will learn about Hanukkah.  Liat’s dads, Michael Simon and Michael Latz will be our guest speakers on Monday.

Let it Shine Time

We are joining Dawn’s class several times a week to sing and hear stories about people whose “light” have changed the world.  So far, we have learned about Wilma Rudolph, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jacques Cousteau, Harriet Tubman, and Wangari Maathai.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!  Thanks, Kristin
