Dear Families,

I know many of you were able to join us for our performance of “wavin’ flag” at the all school morning meeting on Friday.  If you weren’t there, be sure to check out the You Tube video on the Clara Barton Open School You Tube sight.  We’re still singing at our house!

On Friday morning we also baked Lucia Buns and had a mini-festival with the chance to make crowns, woven hearts fancy snowflakes and many flags. We are pretty interested in our flags, so I’m thinking of ways we can get more experience with them.  Must be the song.

This Week

It’s the last week of the year!  We will focus on activities that are fun, but calming. We will also spend some time working with electricity, patterns in math, and asking questions in reading.  We will finish up our “I am” poems and our books about solstice traditions. We are also working on a surprise gift that will remind us to let our lights shine all year long.

Solstice Party

Friday December 20 we will celebrate the last day of school before winter break with a solstice party.  We’ll have some crafts and a special treat.  I would love some helpers between 12:15 and 1:30.

The Light Project

In this week’s BEE book you will find a form for helping your child report his or her topic for the light project.  We can’t wait to find out what everyone is going to study and how they will share their learning!

The Fresh Fruit and Veggie Program

So far I have had only grateful, enthusiastic response to the FFVP snack program for 102.  Just put a check in your child’s BEE book to cover the cost for the rest of the year.  If it works better for you to pay by the month, that’s ok too- $8.00 per month, per child will cover the cost through the last day of school.

Thanks!   Kristin
