2013 Barton Plant Sale

One of Barton School’s great traditions has been our very successful Spring Plant Sale. Because of the tremendous involvement from students, staff and parents, this fund-raising event has enabled us to provide financial support for a rich array of school programs. Last year the sale earned, after expenses, over $40,000 for the school!

Those funds, along with other funds managed by the Barton School Foundation, are essential for the educational programming we desire at Barton. They provide invaluable support for both basic and enrichment opportunities for all of our students. Plant sale proceeds have been used for general classroom supplies and curriculum materials ($300 was allocated for each classroom this year), for school technology and media center resources and books, for our instrumental music program, for the parent taxi cab fund (enabling families without transportation to participate in conferences and evening programs at school, for the artist in the school programs and school-wide arts performances. Although these are only a few of the many educational endeavors supported by the Foundation, it should be clear how important the plant sale is to continuing quality experiences for all students at Barton School.

We need you to get involved in the sale! How? Barton students will bring home order blanks for the plant sale on Friday, March 8th.

  1. Please help your child talk to friends and neighbors about the sale. It’s the busiest time of year for buying plants, and our supplier, a local commercial grower, will provide top quality plants for us at reasonable prices. Your active participation is crucial to the success of this fund-raiser. And don’t forget that 50% of the purchase price is deductible.
     
  2. Please help your child check each order to ensure that it is accurately and completely filled out and that the correct payment accompanies the order. Orders that are not pre-paid cannot be accepted. Students should return completed order forms and accompanying payments to their teacher. An envelope be provided. 
  • Orders and payments are due at school no later than Wednesday, April 10th. 

  • Plant pick-up is on Friday, May 10th, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday, May 11th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Barton School. 

This is a great opportunity to help the school and meet Barton Staff members and other parents and strengthen our community.
