209 Parent Rep

Hello parents of students in Lauren's Room 209!

My name is Anjula Razdan. I am mom to Otto McDill (3rd grader), and I also have 1st grader at Barton.

Something new is happening this year in room 209 and in most other rooms. This year, Barton will pilot “Parent Reps,” known at many schools as Room Parents. We are volunteers who will reach out to you on occasion to communicate school or class happenings as well as to inform you of volunteer opportunities. I will get occasionally messages from the larger school community about events and volunteer opportunities that I am asked to pass on. You can see the message from the larger school community below.

What I'm really excited about is that I'll also be helping Lauren with whatever she needs. That means maybe planning a class party and helping underline her volunteer or donation needs.

Regarding volunteers, Lauren reached out to the class a week ago about her needs. Many people have come forth, but she is still in need of:

--At least 1 more volunteer for Hallway Math on Mondays from 9:20-10:10. This begins next Monday, October 19th and if one more person could commit to helping weekly or biweekly, that would be great.

--At least 1 volunteer on Tuesdays from 9:20-10:10 to read Time for Kids (a fun, miniature version of Time Magazine) with a small group of kids in the hallway and oversee a student-led activity/discussion.

If you could let Lauren know if you can volunteer (and copy me so I know it's taken care of), that would be fantastic.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes this year and hopefully getting to know some of the parents in Room 209. Please email me at if you have any questions. Thanks so much.
