Dear Families,
On Thursday we’ll celebrate one of the childrens’ favorite days of the year.  We are hoping to stay candy-free, but will have a nice fruit ice to make it a party.  We are concentrating on showing kindness and friendship.  We’ll do the valentine exchange right after morning meeting, and will make a game to take home and play with our families.

Valentines for the Troops

We are glad for the chance to send some valentine love to the troops in Afghanistan.  James’ dad is stationed there, and has agreed to pass out valentines to his friends and colleagues.  We’ll be making valentines on Monday afternoon.

Thanks to Gabriel Bodkin, Calliope’s mom, for leading the Friendship Bracelet Camp last week.  This week Marnie is back with drawing camp, Adam will lead Card Game camp, and Doug is back with Chess Camp. Jill will lead BAM camp ( a place value game), Dawn is returning with Story Problem camp, and I will lead Multiplication camp.  If you would like to lead a camp next week with your idea or ours, let me know!

Book Clubs

This quarter’s book clubs are ready to go.  We’ll be doing “emergency catch up reading” during lunch on Mondays, and have the book club discussions and project work on Tuesdays.  If you haven’t made your choice yet, let me know which book you want with a note, text or email.  Thanks!

Science Fridays

Adam and Jill have been leading an exciting series of lesson about Balance and Motion.  Last week the students made spinners, tested hypotheses and recorded results.  Thanks to Jill and Adam for their enthusiasm and hard work!

Food and Clothing Drive

The student council is sponsoring a food and winter clothing drive.  If every student in the school brought one box or can, think of what a pile that would be!  Thanks for doing what you can.

Important Dates

No School Monday, Feb 18
No School Friday March 1

A personal note-

I’ll be out of school on Thursday afternoon- my sister is having surgery.    Thanks,  Kristin
