Dear Families,
The “camps” are off to a good start!  Thanks to Doug Gordon, Sheila Eldred and Marnie Peichel, who helped make our first week successful.  This week Gabriel Bodkin will join the party with friendship bracelet camp, working on complex patterns and a cool craft at the same time.  Next week, drawing, chess, and “set” will be back.  Anyone who wants to join the fun is welcome!

Asia

This week we’ll be sharing some Asian folktales and looking at Hmong story cloths.  In math, we will continue to study lines and shapes, both 2 and 3d.  We’ll be using 2 d shapes and symmetry to design story “cloths” of our own.

Valentine/Treasure Boxes

We are ready to start our Valentine Boxes!  We are going to learn the art of collage and make boxes that will represent our personal ideas of beauty.  The boxes will be used for valentine’s day, and maybe some other artsy purposes later.

Book Clubs

Our final round of book clubs will start next week.  Look for the book club selections coming home in your BEE book.  We hope to send books home on Wednesday.

Our Spelling List

It’s time for the hardest and most popular spelling list of the year!  This week we’ll have 27 lovely words.  Classmates names are important to be able to read and spell.  They are also handy for reading and writing valentines.
Thanks to Lisa Gordon who has taken on the job of correcting spelling tests and getting them into the BEE books on Fridays!
