Dear Families,

Hello, this is Adam, Kristin’s student teacher!  Spring may not be in the air yet, but it is coming!  Last week went well with lots of Australia-themed culture, projects and a study of the Great Barrier Reef with “coral” grown by the end of the week!

This Week
Our ‘World of Beauty’ unit will be in North America.  We plan on studying shapes and how they are used in North American Art; can be three-dimensional and also how they are the basis for drawings.   We will make a Navajo shape design, explore animation with our own flip books and create a still life drawing of important personal objects.

Still life drawing
Have students bring four to seven items in their treasure box this Monday.  This will be part of our still life drawing and a real snapshot of what is important to a student at this age.  Do you remember what you liked in first or second grade? :-)

Play coming up!
Our play "The Quiltmaker's Gift" will debut on Thursday, March 28, from 7:45-8:45.   It will be part of a double feature with Dawn's play, "My Father's Dragon."  The play will be followed by an art show and reception in 102.  This will be an important event to wrap up the World of Beauty unit!

PALA
Remember to keep up with your exercises for PALA.  It is sixty minutes a day, five days a week.

Barton plant sale
New plant order forms are delivered to room 102 every day.  These sales help to fund Barton and make it truly special school.
Thank you for all your support!

Sincerely,

-Adam
