Dear Families,

First, thanks for the wonderful camping trip!  As rainy as it was, everything happened just as it should, and good attitudes prevailed. We were wet for sure- tents were switched out, moved and tarped.  There was a visit to the Laundromat.  Shoes were soaked, changed, and soaked again.  I’m not sure the kids even noticed they were wet!  There was a never-ending game of soccer, ongoing hikes, and crafts all day long. And singing!  Lots of singing! Food tasted better because we were camping, and it was easier to fall asleep (well, for kids!) Everyone was good, all day long.  Camping is magic for kids.

It doesn’t happen by magic, though!  Thanks to the parents who cooked, shopped, hauled, set up tents, and then set up replacement tents, hiked, made crafts, drove the truck, pitched, cleaned the pots and pans, and taught kids to wash their own dishes.  And a thousand thanks to all the parents who let their children come, even when it seems like they are too young and it will be too hard.

This Week

We have just thirteen days left of school, and will spend time coming to closure on lots of things.  This week’s topic is aviation- getting people up in the air to fly like birds!  We’ll do a few camp things that the rain wouldn’t allow, like bubbles and stomp rockets and paper airplanes.  Look for a permission slip in the BEE books- we’ll be launching in the Rose Garden on Wednesday.

Lake Day

We will need 5-6 parents to join us at Lake Day this year and stay with the class.  Other volunteers- who will run games and activities, will also be needed.  Look for the Lake Day permission slip in the BEE book and sign up!

Leadership Council Ballots-

You will only get one day to turn in your council ballots- Look at the candidates through the Barton Website and watch for your ballots on Monday.  They are due Tuesday.
