Dear Families,
It’s the penultimate week of school! (That means second-to-the-last.) We’ll be busy every day, putting portfolios together, reading, writing and doing math. The most important thing this week is getting ready for the SKY SHOW on Friday, May 29, from 7:45-8:30. I’ve been hearing about all the wonderful projects and can’t wait to see them this week.
Eyes to the Sky Projects are officially due Wednesday, but feel free to send them on Tuesday if your child is ready. Each child will have a chance to present the project to the class. We will learn from one another, ask questions, and share comments. Parents will see all the projects at the Sky Show on Friday.
Friday afternoon we’ll celebrate the end of the unit as a class, with some fun sky-centered activities. I’m thinking balloon volleyball, more paper airplanes, butterfly art and kite-making.
Portfolio Sharing
Tuesday, June 2, from 7:30-8:30, we’ll have our portfolio sharing. Portfolios will be ready for examination, and you will all marvel at how your child has grown this year!
I would love to have some parents bring treats to share- remembering we have students who are peanut, sesame, dairy and gluten free. Fruit is a nice option too. If you can bring something to share for our special day, let me know.
Lake Day
Also on June 2 will be Lake Day! We will leave from Barton at about 9:30, to be ready for the 10:00 program. Thanks to all of the parents who volunteered to help at Lake Day via the official link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wcCqAdJdci90NQTfGEaYq6_KWoE5ZhNw24sCtxcKMiE/edit#gid=0.
If you click on it, you’ll see there’s room for more! 102 is well represented, but there are sooooo many slots to left to fill! If you are leaning toward helping at Lake Day, take the plunge!
Spelling!
We’ll have our very last spelling test on Friday. Thanks to dear Vic Nelson, the King of Spelling, who will be moving to third grade with his daughter Annika next year. That leaves the “corrector” spot open for next year. The job can be done at home or at school. Think about it!
Thanks
Just in case I forget to say it, thanks to all of you! You get your children to school every day, encourage them to stretch and take risks, and trust me to take care of them. Your children are growing so fast, and it’s a pleasure to be part of their lives. Kristin
