Heads Up!

We’ve got a another case of the bug-buddies! So far, we’ve been lucky and had only isolated cases- I think those blue bags really help. Still, as soon as you read this, check your child’s head. My favorite tool is the Robi Comb (Walgreens), a little battery operated miracle that detects and KILLS live lice! Or, just sit your kid down with a comb and a bright light and look for little bugs the size of a sesame seed or little balls stuck fast to the hair shaft. Or a very itchy head. If you find some, you need to get to the drug store, get some lice killing shampoo and a little nit comb and get to work! Vacuum everything, wash sheets and stuffies. Let me know so I can get the other kids checked out. Long-haired kids would be wise to wear pony tails or braids for a while. If you get it, it’s polite to let recent playdates, etc know.

Above all, remain calm! It’s icky, and certainly a lot of work, but very common and not anybody’s fault. Be sensitive to your kids feelings, even if your skin is crawling. (Mine is.) The good news is, if you haven’t though of an animal project yet, Headlice would be perfect!
