Room 202 Announcements 2012-2013
Big River Journey
Thursday, April 25, 2013 6:00 PM

On Tuesday, May 7, rooms 106, 206 and 202 will make a journey down the Mississippi River on the Paddleford. We will depart Barton at 8:45 and return by the end of the school day. This all-day, integrated learning experience will provide students with hands-on science experiments that involve the water and its organisms. In addition, we will learn about the geological formation of the river itself and the history of the early peoples who first lived along its shore, such as the Dakota, Ojibwe and the first Europeans. This experience will bring to life our yearlong study of Minnesota history.

We will board the boat on Harriet Island and exit at Fort Snelling State Park. Students will need to bring a lunch and, of course, dress appropriately for the weather, as much of this will be outside! We know how unpredictable it has been!

Please return the Information and Permission form ASAP.

Dear Middles' Parents

On April 11, 2013 from 5:30-8pm the 5th and 6th graders will be honoring five of our community elders. We are planning to have a celebration with food before the ceremony begins. We are asking for your help in making and serving food to the school community. If you are interested in making food from your culture to share or know of a restaurant that would donate food please let us know. It will be an event open to the entire school community.Patrick wrote a great article for the Bugle, in case you haven't heard about the event yet.
