The Young and the Old Essay

Every year the Southwest Senior Citizen Center at 36th and Bryant sponsors a writing contest for the students in room 206. The director of the center has been asking our class to participate in the contest since 1999. The seniors and some staff members will judge your writing and choose six winners: three girls and three boys. We will walk down to the center in May for a visit which includes presenting awards to all students who wrote an essay. Every student has the opportunity to read his or her essay to an audience of seniors. There is time for socializing and eating cookies. It's fun and parents are invited to join us. The date for this activity is May 20th.
