Auditions for Girls Ages 12-14 Interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
Monday, April 9, 2012 7:50 PM

Twin Cities Public Television is working on a PBS Kids Science Show called SciGirls. They are looking for girls to invite to auditions for two upcoming episodes of SciGirls which will be filmed in early May and early June. The audition is for next week already - 4/23. This is why quick action is required. A little about the show: 12The premise of SciGirls is that it is a program for and about “tween” girls. The show features real tween kids using science, technology, engineering and math to explore an interest or solve a problem. Whether it’s investigating the safety of drinking water in a rural community; engineering “green” products for their friends and family; or helping migratory animals reach their destination safely, girls can use science to accomplish meaningful tasks. That is what SciGirls is all about. Each thirty-minute SciGirls episode follows a group of girls and their inquiry-based project, highlighting the great things that happen when girls are inspired – and empowered – by science. Within each episode, the girls collaborate with a unique woman scientist-mentor who offers support and models science process skills. The purpose and mission of the show is to empower more girls to engage in science, and ultimately encourage girls to pursue studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
