Class News ~ 3/20/17

Good afternoon 208 families,

What's going on at Barton and in our classroom? This week we are starting our new science unit-Physical Science: Motion, Energy, and Engineering. We are also writing and creating I am...poems, and studying different types of poetry (April is national poetry month!). We are continuing to work on The $66 Summer literature circles.

Math Masters (after school activity) -note from Katrina

Hi Families,
I am going to start math masters practice this coming Wed. and Thurs. from 2-3 in my room.  This is an opportunity for students to work on math skills and enhance their math knowledge to ultimately compete in the district math competition.  This is for both 5th and 6th graders and all are welcome.  If your child has a math mind and wants to challenge themselves, this is the program for them.  This is not a tutoring class.

There is no commitment required at this time and I would love to see as many student as possible if they are interested.  If they can only come one day because of other commitments that is fine.

Students will need to find transportation home as this is not connected with the after school program.

I hope to see lots of kids Wed. afternoon!!

**MN Zoo field trip permission slip is due by this Thursday. The field trip is this Friday, March 24th. Please indicate on the slip if you would like to chaperone! This field trip is free and lunch is provided at the zoo.

*208 is helping with the Barton Book Bazaar: Please send in donations of gently used books that would appeal to students in grades K-8 for the book fair. Our class will help collect books from each classroom ALL week. This sale relies on generous donations! :) Each morning volunteers from our class will swing by homerooms to collect donations. Our class will help collect the books and count them. Angie (media specialist) is also looking for students to help set up and clean up for the fair next week.

She is looking for students to help next Monday, March 27th after school from 2-4. She is also looking for helpers on Student Author Night from 5-6:30 and 6:30-7:30 PM. If your child is interested they can let me know and I will sign them up!

Thank you for the support. Let me know if you have any questions about the upcoming events or news.
