6-8 Grade Co-Ed Soccer

Barton’s Middle School Athletics Program will be offering soccer to students in grades 6-8 and is co-ed.

The biggest change this year is that Minneapolis Community Education is now facilitating all Middle School Athletics within the district.  Because of this families will be able to register and pay online!  The total cost for each sport is $45.00. For those students who qualify for student eligibility (formerly free and reduced lunch) the cost for each sport is $15.00.  Families must submit a copy of their eligibility form to the athletic director (Dawn Sjoquist).

Registration and Forms

  1. Sports physical

Each child must have a completed sports physical completed before they are allowed to play.  Please submit a copy of your sports physical to Dawn Sjoquist as soon as possible.  If your child has had their physical within the last two years, another one isn’t needed.

  1. Online and paper registration:

Online registration can be completed at beginning August 27th and before the registration deadline of September 5th.

If registering by paper the 4 forms below must be completed and returned to Dawn Sjoquist with payment to complete your registration.  These forms will be placed on the Barton website, can be found in the main office and Room 210A beginning August 27th

  1. Athletic Emergency Referral Card
  2. Parent Permission and Health Questionnaire
  3. Sports Qualifying Physical Examination
  4. Athletic Eligibility Statement

Check payments should be made to “Minneapolis Community Education”.  Cash payments should be submitted in a sealed envelope with registration forms.

  1. Practices and Games:

A soccer coach is currently being secured and additional information regarding tryouts (if needed), and practices will be available soon.  All practices will take place after school at Barton.  Parents will be responsible for picking up their child after practices as after school bussing will not begin until October.
