Dear Families.
Valentine’s Day is very special to first and second graders. We’ll be decorating our special “monster love” boxes tomorrow, and will pass out valentines in the morning. Since we’re studying healthy food this week, we’ll have a healthy treat along with our opening party.
It’s ok to include a little candy with your valentines.

Science Fridays
Sally and Kate have been doing an excellent job with “science Fridays.” We’ve been studying the properties of solids and liquids with experiments and cool activities. It’s a chance for our student teachers to plan a series of lessons from start to finish, and for Dawn and I to work with students in small groups. Win win!

Recess Buddies
Our recess buddies have been a big success. Kids are really branching out, learning to do new things, and having fun with lots of different kids.

Lice
Just a reminder- if your child comes down with a case of lice, it’s important to let the school know. If one child has it, more might- we’ll get rid of it faster if all of the victims are discovered and treated asap. Don’t be embarrassed- it happens to everyone.

Goal Setting
I’m sending your goal-setting forms and a survey about portfolio sharing and conferences on Monday. Thanks for your feedback!

School store
The student council is starting a school store. Like we do with popcorn, we’ll collect money in a jar until there is enough for everyone to make a purchase.

We need-
*Newspapers
*Mini bagels, cream cheese and juice boxes for Tuesday.

Thanks, Kristin and Sally
