Dear families,

This month, I have had the opportunity to meet with over 80 of our parents and teachers during five listening sessions that Barton’s leadership council and I hosted. While we began the sessions by posing four questions and a series of follow-up questions, there arose one implicit question that resonated with participants: What has Barton provided your family?

These listening sessions provided me with a deeper insight into our community and Progressive education that are invaluable to my understanding how to support students and teachers.  They also offered many of our parents an opportunity to reflect on and affirm the value of Barton openly to other members of our community, and while some of these values are represented on our site: http://barton.mpls.k12.mn.us/About_Our_School, the discussions provided richer, more personal testimonials highlighting Barton’s history and future opportunities.

For families new to Barton, these sessions were a powerful introduction into our community, and I look forward to sharing some of the insights that I have had from these listening sessions in our upcoming Family Information Night, next Thursday, September 4th at 5:45 PM.
Additionally, I look forward to additional opportunities to connect and share in our upcoming Coffee with the Principal sessions.  I will post information on our coffees in our upcoming Bugle next week.

Please consider attending our all-school morning meeting this Friday, August 29th, at 7:35 AM, our Parent Information Night next Thursday, September 4, starting at 5:45 PM, or both.

Sincerely,

Paul
