Likewise, our students have had an incredible week musically.  Last week, we hosted the Minnesota Sinfonia’s performance, which included contributions by our own band members.  And, over the last week, our Middles and Uppers Choral groups had a total of three concerts and presentations.  Last Thursday, 86 Middles and Uppers Choir members joined their voices with over 7,000 other singers at the MOA to sing  Zach Sobiech’s song "Clouds" to raise money for kids with cancer and severe medical conditions.  Together, they raised $13 million. Last night, both choirs presented after-school performances to a packed DeLapp Commons, and today they presented for our school-age students prior to our hosting a performance by the Washburn HS choir.

Coming up in January, the Uppers will host their first Exhibition of portfolios.  This  is an opportunity for parents to view and discuss the work their students have completed during the semester. Students are asked to share their learning portfolios highlighting progress they have made in meeting course expectations. Like the 3/4 Celebration, this exhibition is an essential part of our Barton Open’s philosophy, and we ask that ALL parents and guardians come to view their student’s learning.

Our partnerships help create a strong school that focuses on our mission of developing active, socially conscious, life-long learners.  Thank you for your commitment to our children.

Please have a safe and family-filled holiday, and we look forward to greeting our students back January 5th, 2015.

Sincerely,
Paul Scanlon
