This Week
We will have a week filled with poetry! I can’t wait. We will try different styles, starting with observations of individual objects. In math we will continue working on numbers, patterns, symmetry and equations. I have described the knitting and math connection below.

Book Club Lunch
Book club lunch started today. We will be making dioramas this round. The Seven Keys to Comprehension will help us think about each one of the books. Nick, Becky’s student teacher from the fall, will be leading Mr. Popper’s Penguins. I will lead The Sisters Grimm and Kristin is leading The Trumpet of the Swan.

Knitting
This week we will be knitting on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30. It was fabulous to have so many hands to help last week! Join us if you can even if you don’t know how to knit.
Math and Knitting Connection
Over the past two weeks we have been learning how to knit as well as making patterns similar to knitting patterns. This math relates to floors (a row across) and rooms (how many squares in a row). We have practiced making symmetrical patterns and equations to describe the patterns. Even as we knit we relate our math to every stitch of our weaving.

PALA
Last week the PALA books went home with your child. You decide if you want to send in one sheet per week or save them until the end. Remember we are outside for about 20 minutes everyday.

Handmade Arts from the Heart
Saturday, February 12th
9am to 4pm
We have over 30 vendors, entertainment and fun food lined up!

Chapstick

If you have noticed your child has chapped lips, please feel free to send some chapstick with to class. I know how uncomfortable it can be.
