Kindergarten New - October 1, 2014
Wednesday, October 1, 2014 8:55 PM

  October 1, 2014

Room 114 Families,

This little “cool” weather prompted me to make sure families remember that the kindergarteners have recess early (9:10 – 9:40) before the sun gives up much warmth.  Please label outer- wear especially and believe me…I hate to say it… boots and snow pants!
Several papers for attention in the take-home folder today: School photo information and order forms for those interested.  If your child already had their photo taken at “Get Connected Day” and you did not order you can now.  All students who did not have their pictures taken in August will have their photo taken for the school yearbook and families may order as they wish.  Photo day is Tuesday, Oct. 14th.  If you were not happy with your child’s photo they may have their photo retaken that day.  For those just having their photo taken in Oct, another retake day is on Thursday, Nov.13th.  Confused? ....me too!
I try to be mindful of asking for parents to pay for more school items, you have supplied us with school supplies and snacks!  Than you so much!  But, I am asking for payment for our “Handwriting Without Tears” printing practice books.  The cost is $8.00.  Thank you for your help.
Look especially at your kindergarten’s artwork and Kgn. Family Pizza dinner invitation.  Our class is asked to bring desserts or treats.  Other classes will bring salads, side dishes and veggies and fruits.  The school provides coffee, water and pizza.  It is a fun evening and the kindergarteners will sing and dance at the end of the evening.  Please come and bring the whole family!
Our second Writers Workshop was today.  After reading most of the silly story, King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub by Audrey and Don Wood.  The children are writing as if they were the page in the castle and how they would get the King out of the bathtub.  Ask your child to tell you the whole story and especially ask them how they thought the book would end!
We continue to work on “What Can You Make With Ten Dots?”, our integrated math/art and writing project.
We have an All School Morning Meting this Friday.  Try to be on time and if you are late meet us in the Commons we will be towards the front.
The children are having a great time learning all about squirrels in Science with Sue B. at specialist time.  Ask your child what makes squirrel claws so special and what you call a squirrel nest.  Your budding squirrel expert should know many new facts to share with you.

A few students have their Big Buddy photos in their folder today.
