Meet & Greet with Paul Scanlon
Monday, June 23, 2014 5:30 PM

Dear Barton community,

I would like to invite you to meet Paul Scanlon this Tuesday between 2:30 -4:00 in the Barton media center.  This “meet and greet” will be an informal opportunity for parents from our community and for staff to meet Paul before he officially starts in his role as principal of Barton.  From 2:00 – 2:30, only staff will be invited to come meet Paul.  We want them to have an opportunity to have the first opportunity to meet Paul in a smaller setting. From 2:30 – 4:00, staff and parents from Barton are welcome to come meet and greet Paul Scanlon.  I know some of you are out of town or may have other commitments, but I hope that many of you can come meet him.

Holly and I have both met with Paul on a couple of occasions. Paul has already attended two days of professional development with some of our teachers. In addition, we invited Steve DeLapp in to meet Paul last week.  I have been impressed with Paul’s child-centered thinking and his instructional experience.   In my short meetings with him, Paul has demonstrated a respectful patience and desire to be a learner that will serve him well as a principal.  He has a background in Responsive Classroom and a belief system that mirrors those values.  His desire to meet the unique needs of each learner have already come out in brief encounters with both Holly and me.  I am looking forward to your opportunity to meet him.

Here is a link to an introductory letter from Paul to the community.
