Hello Families,

Our first homework for the year went home today, along with a
permission slip to go see Junie B. Jones at Stages Theater in Hopkins.
Please practice the word wall words with your child. New words will
come home each full week of school. Our hope is that first graders are
able to quickly read the words and second graders need to know how to
spell the words. Please return the permisssion slip as soon as you
can. We need to pay for the tickets and bus in advance. Thank You!

We have another all school morning meeting scheduled for tomorrow
morning at 7:30.  We will go with our upper buddies.

During our class morning meetings we have been learning about and
practicing social skills. We have practiced listening, being honest,
showing empathy, and working together. The students even worked
together to complete a puzzle only using nonverbal gestures (pointing,
facial expresssions, head nodding)!

In science we are continuing to observe, record and write about our
organisms. We currently have guppies, snails, millipedes, and
pillbugs.

Our specialists changed this week. Room 116 is now in Science with
Sue. Room 118 is in Media with Angie.

In reading we have been working on our read to self stmaina. As a
class, we are up to 3 minutes of solid reading! Our goal is 20
minutes.

We are out of snack. If you are able to send in a snack for the class
to share, I'm sure they would all be very happy.

Thanks,
Julie, Melanie, Amanda & Patrice
