Candy Interdisciplinary Unit

This week we began our study of candy.  Students thought about what they wanted to learn about candy.  We started in answering the questions right away by finding out what chocolate is made of and how it is made.  Next week we will continue to learn more about the invention of candy and its chnges over time.

First graders are working on developing strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.  Second graders are answering the question, "Does order matter?"  To answer this question they are learning and practicing new strategies for solving number string problems.  Please keep doing fact practice at home with your first and second graders.

-No school on Thursday or Friday, November 22-23

-Remember library checkout in the media center is every Wednesday.  Please bring bck your books every week to check out new books.

-Sharing: We will be discussing the changes candy has gone through.  To help students think about changes over time please have your child bring in something from the past or share a story from your childhood that they could share.  This could be a family photo, an old toy, or a story about what school was like for you.
