State Capitol Field Trip
We had a great trip to the State Capitol. Our guide, Roy, took us around to see the highlights of this magnificent building. We saw the House and Senate floors and the room where Governor Dayton greets important guests and has press conferences. There was a Lego model of the capitol and the Rotunda chandelier was on display. We ate lunch in the dining room at the Centennial Office building then returned for the highlight of the trip. Representative Frank Hornstein met us on the floor of the House and and led us in a mock debate and vote. Students sat at the desks of the representatives and were able to use the microphones to comment and the yea and nay buttons to vote. Very cool!

Spike’s His Name!
He has arrived!
He’s kind of cute. Six inches long from his nose to the tip of his tail, for right now , at least. We are learning how care for him and have started a journal to record

Science Assets
On the last two Wednesdays staff from the Bakken Museum have visited our classroom to help us understand how scientists work. Science Assets™ are the attitudes, knowledge, and skills that inspire a passion for science and prepare students for life after school – both in terms of job opportunities and civic engagement. These Science Assets™ are related to confidence/identity, support, creative thinking skills, and science relevancy. Each lesson has included a hands on activity. The third and final lesson will be
this week.
