Dear Families,
What a wonderful trip to the zoo! It was our first big field trip, and the kids were safe, cooperative and respectful AND had a ton of fun! Our goal was to see every animal that our students were studying, and we did it- almost. The grizzly bear was off exhibit and the komodo dragon and the lynx were hiding. Thanks to the moms who helped supervise the little zoologists, and to Sheila, who took the pictures.

The Ordway Trip
All permission slips and money are in for Wednesday’s trip to the Ordway. Thanks! It will be fun to enjoy a field trip with the whole team.

Author’s Tea
This week we’ll work on writing and reading our animal facts books! I am so excited for the author’s tea! The children will read their books to the assembled parents and they are going to be AWESOME!!! See you at 7:45 on Friday morning.

Costumes for Friday!
In the afternoon we will have our animal party! Animal costumes are encouraged! It’s costume day at Barton, so it’s ok to wear them all day. Kids can also make their own animal ears and get whiskers painted at our animal party.

Calling all Party Animals!
We would love to have some animal party helpers on Friday. Come at 12:15 (or before for set up). There’s lots to do, and it’ll be fun!

Next Week
We’ll have a couple of “reflection days” amd then get started on our new unit of study, Let it Shine! We’ll think about the ways people around the world let their lights shine.

The Lantern Walk
It’s a 102/ 104 tradition to gather on and welcome the season with a lantern walk. Save Nov. 12, 5:30-6:30!

More coming! Kristin
