Class web site

This Week
Well, this is the time I’ve been working toward for the past 5 weeks. I’m not only excited to be teaching, but also learning from each of your students!
We have been learning our C.A.R.E.S. skills through our fairytale readings. This week we will move on to St. George and the Dragon and will be focusing on
self-control. We will also continue working on our number books; completing the 11 and 12 pages this week. Last week, we introduced weaving, and I’m sure you have heard all about it! Friday, Dawn sent home directions on how to make the cardboard cut out so your child can weave at home as well.
Field Trip
We will be going to the Minnesota Center for Book Arts on Wednesday, October 6th. We will be printing a poster with an alphabet we make ourselves. Please remember to send in the permission slip! The link to the website is below. I encourage checking it out because there are lots of classes you and your child may enjoy.
Thanks so much for bringing in shoeboxes. I think we are close to having enough! I’m sure the students are wondering what they are for and we will be working with them soon.

Author’s Tea and Celebration
On Friday, October 29th we will have an author’s tea. Each child will be reading a piece of their writing. It is a time when everyone gets a chance to read in front of the whole group. We will begin around 7:45 and all families are welcome. In the afternoon we will have our Happily Ever After party. This will conclude the current theme. I wanted to give a heads up in case your child is anything like mine and has been talking about a Halloween costume since August. On Oct. 29th your child may wear a costume to school. The theme will be fairy tales. As you plan a costume, try to make a connection between the costume and fairy tales. There are plenty of characters to pick from and shouldn’t be a problem. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Every other Friday we will have popcorn. My policy is to have poporn if we have enough money. Each child shares a bag with a partner. Any leftover money stays in the jar until the next week.
