Slow Week?

Do you have a slow week ahead? Are the boxes on your calendar empty? Here’s an opportunity fill up those empty times. We need editing help! The Room 209 poets have been busy creating, revising, and editing, and now as we approach the final stages, a few extra hands (ears and eyes, too) would be greatly appreciated. If you are available, please let me know.

This week (11/17 – 11/19) we will be working on poetry from 9 – 10 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Next week (11/24 – 11/25) we will be working from 8 – 9 on Monday and Tuesday.

Stamp Club

The research groups are busy becoming experts on topics that center on the Wonders of America stamp set. If you are upstairs, check out the poster and postcards from these amazing locations in our country. In the next couple of weeks, students will begin developing presentations that will teach the other members.

The catalogs from Mystic Stamp Company arrived, and each student was able to order a stamp with a portion of his/her dues. Students are also able to bring in extra money to purchase additional stamps. The cost is typically 50¢ or less per stamp.

Art Adventures

Barton 3rd/4th grade classrooms participate in Art Adventures, which is a partnership program with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This year’s theme is American Artists and students are studying 8 pieces of art that are on display at the MIA. Parents Annik Miller, Carolyn Ramberg, and Sarah Kuzel-Leslie are spending time in the classroom teaching us in preparation for our December field trip to see these works of art in person.

Friday Architects prompted our work in Geometry. Currently we are studying 3D solids (edges, vertices, faces, bases, apex). Both grades are also working on multiplication topics.
