10/24/2014

Dear 216 Parents,

This past week was a fun and exciting week in room 216!  The students had a great time swimming for the first time this year.  I am excited to report that everyone got their permission slips in and was able to attend!  The class started their art rotation and they have been enjoying working with Meri each day on that.

In the Classroom:
Math: We are starting new units in math!  3rd graders will be working on: Numbers to 1,000  and 4th graders will be working on: Numbers and Operations Part 1.

Reading: Students are continuing working in reading groups as they practice making connections, summarizing and predicting.

Writing: Students are working on writing personal narratives.

Science: The ExploraDome will help wrap up our unit on the Sun Moon and Stars in science.  In a couple weeks we will start a unit on Rocks!

Homework:
Spelling:  If you child wants to practice their spelling words a little extra at home, they have the option to take a list!

Reading:  Each night students should be reading 30 minutes.

Conferences:
If you and your child have not met with me to create goals for this year, please let me know times and dates that may work well for you.  I am open to early conferences (6:30am) and also times afterschool (2:30, 3, 3:30, 4).  Please email or send a note with your student as soon as possible to set that up!

Thank you to those of you who have come in and met with me.  The conferences have been going great so far!
