Room 216 Classroom News

If you have not already, please let me know when would be a good conference time to assess your students goals and progress so far this year.

Valentines Day:
We will be having a small Valentines Day Celebration on Thursday, February 12.  Students will be decorating bags in class.  Attached is a class list, there are 29 students in our class.

All School Morning Meeting
Many students from our class had the opportunity to perform during the All School Morning Meeting.  Students played the guitar for the school, songs that they have learned in Music during their last rotation.

In the Classroom This Week:
Swimming: Students have had the opportunity to go to the YMCA and swim this week.  They did a great job.

Math: We have continued to study geometry in class.  We have been practicing angle measurements and exploring the perimeter of shapes.

The Great Amaryllis Race (Science): Students have been continuing to make scientific observations as their amaryllis flowers grow.  They have been measuring, journaling and sketching as they follow their plant’s life cycle.

Social Studies:  Students have been learning more about California as they prepare their “Mystery State Trading Card”.

Art: Students started their Art rotation this week.

Memorial Garden:
Over the next month the 4th graders from room 216 have been given the opportunity  to help plan Felicity’s Memorial Garden and all the logistics.  Once a week the 4th graders will work with volunteers to design the layout and learn about possible plants to include.  They will then present it to the 3rd graders and any other classes interested.

Read – Students should be reading every night for 30 minutes.

Wednesday – Students should have brought home a math packet on Wednesday and will be expected to have it returned next February 11!

Spelling – Students should have received their list that they will be tested on next Thursday.  I encourage them to study and practice at home.
