Room 216 Classroom News

The classroom website is being updated with all this information as well and can be a great place to check out!

Amaryllis Sharing:
Thank you to all who were able to attend the Amaryllis Sharing time.  It was a very special time for many of the students who enjoyed sharing all their wonderful hard work.

Reflection Cards:
Please take some time to review your student’s thoughts about their classroom involvement.  These should be signed and returned the following Monday.  This has continued to be a great way to communicate.

Camping:
Currently Mark and I are working on planning and preparing information for you regarding camping, expect to see more information in April.  In the mean time, please remember to return the district form that was sent out last week.  It is also posted to our classroom website.

Plant Sale:
Keep selling plants!  Our goal is to raise $4500 as a class.

In the Classroom This Week:
Math: As we continue our exploration of fractions the class is working in 3 different groups to best aid their learning.

The Great Amaryllis Race (Science): Students did a wonderful job of sharing their Amaryllis project on Wednesday!  We will be finishing up the project after break and they will be bringing their work home once complete.

Literacy: Students have continued working on learning about Georgia O’Keeffe though reading groups, discussion and taking notes.    Students received their artists that they will be studying and they have started reading about them.

Social Studies:  Students are working hard on discovering what their next mystery state is going to be as they are give clues and time to research.

Gym: Remember to bring tennis shoes for gym on Monday when we return!

Homework:
There was no math homework or spelling sent home due to spring break.  Enjoy the break and read, read, read!

MCA TEST INFORMATION
Reminder that Thursday and Friday (April 9 & 10) are our Reading MCA testing days.  Please send a healthy snack with your child, if they want a snack during the test.  Our testing time will be in the morning (8-9:30) on those days.

Classroom Needs:
- Tissues
- Pencils
- Black Dry Erase Markers (needing enough for the whole class, so any little bit helps!)
- White note cards (we will be needing for our artist study project)
- Volunteers willing to work with students on their artist project – editing, reading, organizing information, etc. (timing will very as we juggle our April schedule, so let me know if you are willing and able and I will get you the exact times as we go.  Typically it will be 8:30-10:10am or 12:30-1:45pm)
