Room 216 News and Notes ~ 9/9/16


Here are a few updates from room 216 for this week!

-We began reading Charlotte's Web as a class, each student is following along in their own copy of the book and identifying different aspects of the story.
-We started modeling literature circle jobs such as finding vocabulary, identifying characters, and noting important passages.

-We wrote our writing goals for this year.
-Spelling words will begin next week! Look for their spelling sheet next Monday!

-We have continued to talk about the sun and how it plays a role in shadows.
-We have done a variety of shadow activities including creating shadows on the globe & and taking part in shadow activities on the playground.

-We have finished up our short unit on time! 4th graders final lesson focused on elapsed time, 3rd graders final lesson focused on telling time to the exact minute.
-We began our next unit on money. We did a short pre-assessment today on identifying coins, adding money, and receiving change.
-We wrote our math goals this week.

Read Aloud:
-We finished reading Because of Winn-Dixe.
-Today we started reading The Tale of Despereaux
-We have been working on listening and creating mind movies as we listen to our read aloud.
