Room 8 News, 1/6/2015
Wednesday, January 7, 2015 7:50 PM

Greetings Parents and Friends of Room 8!

Happy New Year! You probably have already received the call from MPS stating "No School Tomorrow"...stay warm and only 75 days until spring!

We will be starting a new class novel "The Watson's Go To Birmingham-1963". This novel will go along with our civil rights theme which will kick off on Thursday with a study of "The Children's March". The kids will also be developing their own projects/ideas for making a difference in the world! I'm sure the kids will come up with fabulous ideas!!

In Minnesota History, we are going deeper into the Fur Trade! The plan is to have our own "Trading Post" in the classroom next week! More info. to follow!

The January book report information went home on Monday! It is a puppet/biography assignment! Please let me know if you need the instruction sheet! I told the kids to start on this one ASAP! They don't want to be pushing it to the last minute!! Stress-o-rama!

Before break, we wrote our autobiographies and painted self portraits! They're great! :) We are typing them up this week. Our next big writing assignment will be writing a biography on a classmate! (This is one of my favorite activities!) It appears to be the unofficial Bio/Autobiography month in our room! :)

We have three field trips (two plays and the Ordway) coming up in February...unfortunately, I left the info. at school and can't remember the specifics! I will update you later!!

Anna (our fantastic student teacher) is here full-time now! It is so nice to have another teacher in the room, not to mention her fresh ideas and technological knowledge!! Yahoo!!

Stay warm and thanks for sharing your kids with me,
