Greetings!!
We are putting together a Room 106 cookbook. This goes along with a book we are reading called The Crepe Makers' Bond. I went through the assignment with the group today and they were pretty jazzed about the idea! Please help your child find a nummy family recipe that they would like to submit for the cookbook. The recipe should include the ingredients, the directions and a short story/history to go with the recipe. (I have many examples the kids can look at from 2010-11 class.) If you have any questions just ask your child or me!! Please have this to school by Thursday, Feb. 14.
Our portfolio share will be Friday, Feb. 22 from 7:15-8:50. I am thinking of putting together some kind of "Morning Pot Luck"...meaning anyone who wants to bring a "morning treat" to share for our portfolio share could do so. I will keep you posted, or if anyone wants to organize this please let me know!
We will be going to the play "Revolution 1963" at the YPC Friday, Feb. 15. Permission slips will be coming home soon! (It's only a week away! Eek!) In preparing for this play, we have been studying the "Children's March" which took place in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. The kids then researched a cause they felt strongly about and prepared a presentation for our classroom and Katrina's room. Some groups even took it to the next level and organized a bake sale with the profits going to such organizations as the Humane Society and PSP (People Serving People)! They are quite the ambitious group!! They can make a change for the better!! I love it!
The next book report direction/information sheet will come home next week, due Tuesday, March 5th.
We will do a Valentine's Day exchange. This is an optional activity, however I told the group if they do it for some, they need to do it for the whole group! Here is the list for anyone interested...
